On average, 12% of seniors (ages 65+) within long term care homes can’t speak English proficiently. Consequently, with 70% of malpractice a result of miscommunication–these seniors are at an additional risk. The problem: Language barriers are decreasing the quality of care for non-english speaking seniors in long term care homes. The service environment of long term care homes and the needs of senior end users requires a compatible, easy use and frictionless solution. As a result, existing solutions for translation aren’t often designed for seniors nor the environment they are in since smartphones, mobility and technology knowledge is often required.
