Hatchery 3D printing uses FDM printers with white PLA. The available machines support a build area of 223 × 223 × 205 mm.
Compare the available printersPrint time depends on part size, shape and infill density. Small parts may take only a few hours; large or bulky parts can take a day or more. Allow up to seven days for the full service turnaround.
Infill describes how much material fills the inside of a part. Zero percent is hollow and 100% is solid. Twenty percent is the standard setting for most prototypes.
No. The service currently uses white PLA only, and we cannot accept outside rolls of material.
The print service does not include design changes. Contact the Myhal Fabrication Facility at myhal.maker@utoronto.ca if you need additional design or fabrication support.
Higher infill can increase strength, but it also uses more material and takes longer to print. Increasing wall thickness can often add strength without requesting 100% infill.
The printers can be accurate to 12.5 microns in the X and Y directions and 5 microns in the Z direction.
The build volume is 223 × 223 × 205 mm. Parts close to the maximum dimensions are more difficult to print and may not produce the best result.
