The Carbon footprint impact of commercial aircraft has been under scrutiny for decades as 2% of global emissions are resultant from the aviation sector. The take-off procedure is the only stage of the flight where engines are on maximum thrust, thus making it a fuel-intensive process with adverse environmental implications. Presently, commercial aircrafts burn an average of 175 kg of fuel during take-off, leading to 570 kg of CO2 emissions per flight just from take-off alone. Toronto Pearson Airport has ~450,000 flights per year, leading to a total of ~78,750 tonnes of CO2 emissions and $91 million worth of fuel
