1 in 5 women and 1 in 16 men are sexually assaulted in university, and yet very few of these cases result in formal reports to police or university administrations, while most survivors are dissatisfied and retraumatized by the difficulty they have in finding help. In a better system, universities would prevent most cases, and a survivor would have enough information to understand that their experience counts and isn’t their fault, and would be able to quickly and easily access counselling and academic accommodations and report if they wish to.
