Edward On

Edward is a customer-centric strategist passionate about addressing customer pain points through Design Thinking and Analytics.
Edward is currently the Canada Lead for Bixby, Samsung’s Artificial intelligent assistant, and also manages SmartThings (IoT) app, Samsung Health, Smart Cities initiatives and other revenue generating services.
His past experience includes working with internal stakeholders to increase revenue, acquire/retain subscribers in TELUS’ Strategic Analytics team, and as a Monitor Deloitte strategy consultant involved in strategy, intrapreneurship and innovation initiatives. Edward was also an IBM Extreme Blue Product Manager focusing on Social Media Analytics where he managed the product roadmap and developed a business case for a social media benchmarking product.
At Rotman, Edward majored in innovation and entrepreneurship. He believes rules are meant only as guidelines and looks for creative work-arounds.
Edward enjoys volunteering at UofT and long road trips. Edward is also an avid gamer and was ranked top 5% globally in Battlefield 4.

David Mason

I have initiated and closed financings totalling over $500 million CDN in my career, primarily in the emerging resource company sector. I am founder of three public companies: resource investment banking (Augen Capital), uranium development (Energy Fuels), and gold exploration (Augen Gold). Augen Capital completed over $150 million in flow-through funding (Canadian tax advantaged) and assisted in the financing of over 300 public companies during the period 1996-2008. As a portfolio manager, I was ranked in the top three for this type of fund, which raises several billion dollars annually. Under my direction, Augen Capital provided the necessary seed capital to found Energy Fuels and Augen Gold. Both companies were taken public and achieved a market capitalization of $250 million and $75 million respectively. For a period of over 5 years I was CEO of Augen Gold, until it was acquired in August 2011. During that period I raised approximately $40 million for exploration and corporate development. I brought the Jerome mine from 130,000 oz of historical gold resource to a 43-101 compliant 1.1 million oz.I have a B.A.Sc in Applied Geology and an M.Eng (Mining – with a specialty in business and mineral economics).  I have worked over 35 years in the investment business and passed all exams including Partners and Directors Exam. This investment experience includes 10 years as a senior mining analyst, plus several years in institutional and retail sales, and corporate finance.

David Cummings

David is a corporate and commercial lawyer with expertise in media, intellectual property, and information technology
At Caravel Law, David works with clients on commercial and IT legal matters. His work includes the drafting and negotiating of master services agreements, professional services agreements, software licenses and support agreements, purchase agreements, and hosting agreements.

His clients have included the Canadian Cancer Society, Capital One Bank, Digiflare, Q4 Web Systems, and Wave Accounting.

David has extensive experience in drafting technology license and service agreements, digital media agreements, pre-litigation documents, and traditional media agreements.

Danish Siddiqui

Danish has extensive experience in software development ranging from Principal Engineer in a startup to Technical Lead delivering software to millions of customers worldwide.

He holds a degree of MBA with focus in strategy & entrepreneurship: helped multiple companies develop sound strategies that are being implemented today; designed, built and shipped great products.

Dag Enhorning

Dag is the President of Siltech Corporation, a manufacturer of unique silicone chemicals.  A Queen’s University Commerce graduate he obtained a CPA (CA) designation in 1986 while working as a Tax manager in Ernst & Young’s Calgary office.  Dag then returned to Toronto and marketed and sold financial products to individual clients from 1988 to 1995.  He joined Siltech in 1996 during its startup and has been involved in most aspects of the business.  Siltech now has two manufacturing plants, in Toronto and Mississauga, and services customers around the globe.

Christopher Hunter

Chris Hunter represents clients in the acquisition, enforcement and exploitation of all forms of intellectual property, including patents, trade-marks, copyrights, industrial designs and trade secrets.

His practice focuses on providing strategic advice to clients concerning their intellectual property portfolios, and providing litigation support for infringement and misappropriation actions.

He also regularly negotiates and drafts agreements, including licences, joint development agreements and various other technology-related agreements. He was significantly involved in representing Nortel in the historic $4.5 billion sale of its patent portfolio.
As a registered patent agent, Mr. Hunter drafts and prosecutes patent applications for electrical, mechanical, business method, software and information technology-related inventions. He also specializes in industrial designs. Mr. Hunter is also a registered trade-mark agent.
Prior to joining our Toronto office, Mr. Hunter was a partner at another major law firm in Toronto. Before becoming a lawyer, he was a management consultant with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).

Charles Xiao

Charles Boulakia

Charles Boulakia is a partner of Ridout & Maybee LLP in the firm’s Toronto office. His practice is principally directed towards the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the biotechnology, chemistry, biofuel, oil and gas and pharmaceutical areas. Charles provides his clients with IP due diligence, validity, and freedom to operate opinions. Charles also drafts and negotiates license agreements and occasionally advises on food and drug regulatory law, including product labelling and advertising. Previous to his career in law, Charles worked briefly in venture capital, “big pharma”, and for the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Cesar Marquez

Dr. Cesar Marquez Chin completed his undergraduate degree in 1998 in biomedical engineering at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, Mexico. In the same year he helped established the Assistive Technology Service of the now Lyndhurst Centre of the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute – University Health Network. The service is dedicated to the assessment, training and prescription of assistive devices for individuals with spinal cord injury and disease. In this capacity, he worked alongside clinicians and served over 300 individuals. Dr. Marquez Chin also developed consumer grade computer accessibility software and myoelectric prosthetic systems at the Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Centre, now the Holland Bloorview Children’s Centre, where he worked professionally. Dr. Marquez Chin conducted his doctoral studies at the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering of the University of Toronto, where he is now an Assistant Professor (Status only). Dr. Marquez Chin is also a scientist at the KITE Research Institute at University Health Network.

Brenden Gomez

Brenden is a builder for user focused products with data driven insights and he is passionate to follow through execution.

With the above three, he has successfully launched multiple solutions and services from smartphones to mobile, connected and smart home apps. He now looks to lead teams in doing the same.

Bob Cherniak

Bob Cherniak provides Cherniak Software clients the \’something extra\’, the creative spark. Bob has led the development of ERP systems that serve as the nerve centers of the organizations that use them in such areas as Discrete Manufacturing, Continuous Process Manufacturing, Wholesale Distribution, Project Management, Professional Services, Real Estate, Health Care, Association Membership Management, Insurance & Financial Services, and Alumni Engagement. Bob is a graduate of Engineering Science at the University of Toronto. He has lectured at both at the University of Toronto and York University. He has been active for a long time in various volunteer activities (e.g. Big Brothers, Frontier College), and still manages to squeeze in some time for canoe tripping in the far north, and for hiking, woodworking, and reading.
